So there is Dry, normal oily, combination skin and Sensitive skin
But lets begin with combination skin:
Combination skin
It’s a mix between oily and dry skin. Your forehead, nose and chin is the oily part. Your cheeks are usually the dry part or normal part.
Dry skin
Dry skin is when there’s a lack of moisture in your skin and you naturally produce less sebum.
This skin type has crack in it which allows the water to escape. Known as trans epidermal water loss (tewl)
Dry skin is often hereditary, caused by the cold weather, wind, dry weather, high temperatures, harsh soaps and body washes, over washing, over exfoliating.
How to tell what dry skin looks like?
Dry skin can appear grey and dull looking. It can also be rough, flaky and sometimes itchy too.
Normal skin
Is neither oily or dry. It’s just in the middle. This skin texture is smooth. You don’t experience a lack of sebum, tightness, flakiness, itchiness, redness, oilness. You basically have healthy skin.
Oily
This skin type experiences acne breakouts and blackheads.
This skin type produces more sebum. Giving you an oily. Forehead, nose and chin. Looks shiny and has large pores.
- Wash your face with lukewarm water
- Pat your face dry
- Leave your face bare for at least 30 minutes
Then you can check how your skin feels.
